A short, musical trip to Spain

Two years ago this January, I started working at Stephen Arnold Music, and my how that time has flown. I say this in the generic sense, the way one sighs and shakes his heads at the fast changing world, but also with something specific in mind: Exactly three years ago, I was in the middle of what I consider to be the best year of my life. That’s a big […]

Anti-Social… Digitally Speaking

When I joined the team here at Stephen Arnold Music Company on August 1, I had no idea how drastically my life would change. I consider myself to be a pretty current, connected, and plugged in person. It was a rude awakening to discover just how un-plugged I really am. My work life is spent checking email, the digital Calendar, the digital sales database, the digital contract database,  ordering online, […]

Happy Thanksgiving!

Well folks, that special time of the year is nigh upon us.  That magical, most festive of periods called “The Holidays” is rapidly approaching.  In light of Thanksgiving being just a few days away,  I thought it would be appropriate to ponder those things that often go overlooked, yet should be valued and  appreciated, as well as offer food for thought for those needing mental nourishment. It seems a day […]

SAM goes to the State Fair: A Memoir

To my surprise last month, Stephen Arnold Music was treated to a half day at the State Fair of Texas. We enjoyed fried food, expensive cheap beer, bumper cars and adrenaline-pumping thrill rides, all of which made for a great team building experience. It was pretty much all of us, from Stephen on down to the intern kid, Noah. It was mad dash to see who could eat the worst […]

The World Intellectual Property Organization, or the WIPO, gave the East African tribe a “laptop, camera and digital recorder” worth $11,000, believing the idea to be a “huge potential for communities to record, archive and also draw income from their cultural richness.” The Maasai are as much a part of East Africa […]

Quincy Jones: Savior of Music

In a recent article for the China Daily newspaper, Quincy Jones claimed he would ride with bravado against the 21st century’s dark knight, a phantom menace called copyright infringement, and rescue his beautiful maiden in distress, the haggard and threadbare music industry. From the article: “We are going to reinvent the record business, in China, because it’s dead,” the 76-year-old producer of Michael Jackson’s Thriller, which has sold over 100 […]

Stephen Arnold talks about Roosters and Cavemen in POST magazine

SAM is featured in the June edition of Post as part of a story on Sonic Branding. The hard copy of the magazine published pictures of the studio and some thought provoking words from the big man himself, Stephen Arnold. You can check out the abridged online version here. Stephen’s interview is the lead story on the article, which features several other sonic brand…ers… (is that phrase fair game yet?), […]
