Al Jazeera Arabic is the #1 Arabic news channel in the world – broadcasting to more than 220 million households in more than 100 countries. With Al Jazeera’s 25th Anniversary came a complete rebrand – sets, graphics, technology and music.

Continuing a 20+ year creative partnership, Stephen Arnold Music was tasked with re-imagining and evolving Al Jazeera’s sonic brand and music across all platforms. This epic, fully-orchestrated music package would become the soundtrack to 24 hours of daily programming, as well as an audio toolkit for brand identity and promotions.

Rozam Media launched in the early 2020’s with its eye on a global footprint in events, literature, media, music, and film production.

Translating as “Lion” in Arabic, the brand attributes of Rozam are Strength, Self-Pride, and Uniqueness with the emotional touchpoints of Trusted, Daring, and Inspiring.

It was important to communicate the sonic brand through its existing visual mark: a visual evolution from a solo violist, to film projector, to the written word, before dissolving into the Rozam / Lion brand

SAM delivered this stunning sonic brand recorded with all live players under a tight deadline to meet an upcoming launch.

Stephen Arnold Music was tasked with creating a sonic brand and comprehensive music package for CCTV China that would be shared between their five CCTV/CGTN International Channels – Arabic, English, French, Russian and Spanish — all while taking into account the individual channel regions, cultures, and target audiences.

The objective was to create a sonic brand that can live across multi-platform while remaining true to its Chinese/Asian heritage. It proved to be a planet-spanning project as epically challenging as it was rewarding.

Sharqiya News is the flagship news program of Hasad, Iraq’s first privately-owned satellite channel. Stephen Arnold Music’s deep international experience made us the top choice to create their custom sonic branding and music package. We composed a theme imbued with confidence and a dramatic flair, as modern rhythms meet traditional Middle Eastern musical motifs. Our arrangement called for a completely live orchestration including French horns, trumpets, trombones, violins, viola and celli. Stephen Arnold Music’s original theme was custom scored to the visuals, achieving a seamless blend between sound and screen.

In addition, a custom identity music package was created created to accompany the Ramadan holiday season. The animations were all post-scored to picture and feature the Al Sharqiya sonic brand.

CGTN Channel Identity plus Show Packages for New Money, Global Business, Dialogue, and World Insight


The five international channels of China Global Television Network (CGTN), reaching over one billion people, have recently updated sonic brands. The latest sound of CGTN was created by Stephen Arnold Music, which returned to the network after launching its distinctive sonic brand in 2015.

Collaborating once again with design firm Flint Skallen, Stephen Arnold Music produced an extensive package of new show themes and promo music for CGTN’s five international channels: CGTN English, French (African), Spanish, Russian and Arabic. Together, the two firms forged fresh graphics and music to reflect the channels’ increased digital footprint and accessibility worldwide.

CNN Worldwide - Custom Music Package: 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics


“Aiming For Gold”, was created for CNN and aired on all of their channels worldwide during the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics. The music was featured in various promos, in-show segments, and athlete profile pieces.

Our objective was to sonically express the majesty and excitement of the winter games – and to musically capture the drama, inspiration, and passion found on the world’s biggest stage of international competition. The music features live, lush orchestration with players from the Dallas Symphony Orchestra and Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra. Another important element was to incorporate some distinctive Korean instrument textures into the music – such as the gayageum, janggu drums, and the daegeum flute.

Sri Lanka’s television news industry was brought closer to international standards on January 01, 2019 by the country’s most trusted news provider – Ada Derana, through the unveiling of a new state-of-the-art news studio and first 24-hour news channel.

The new, sleeker graphic look for CNN International’s flagship sports show, “World Sport,” called for a fresh music theme to capture the excitement and passion of global sports fans. Stephen Arnold Music was invited to build on the sonic brand and package it had originally created for the show and delivered with an enduring new music package for “World Sport.”

Stephen Arnold Music took an orchestral approach to developing a distinctive sonic signature, calling on elite players to record live strings, horns, and percussion, while weaving in subtle electronic elements to complete a multifaceted package for “World Sport.” The main theme of eventful anticipation is supplemented by compositions that are dramatic, driving, competitive, high energy, somber and serious.

Our new theme projects confidence, sophistication, and depth, instantly engaging audiences with an instantly recognizable blend of percussion, strings, electronica and tonal bells. Built around a distinctive four-note signature, the music package features multiple theme variations and mixes, all incorporating an international appeal and sensibilities of confidence, sophistication, and depth. Our work for “Hala Gorani Tonight” added to our previous CNN International original music themes including “Amanpour,” “World Sport,” “International Desk,” “Inside The Middle East,” “Inside Africa,” and others.

The royal wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle was a landmark television event, viewed by two billion+ people worldwide. CNN’s coverage was accompanied by custom music from Stephen Arnold Music, an original theme capturing a sense of anticipation, tradition and pageantry, blended with a fresh, youthful and vibrant sensibility.

Inspired by the beautiful graphic elements of CNN’s design team, our arrangement was performed by top players from both the Dallas and Fort Worth Symphony Orchestras, including violins, violas, celli, French horns, trumpets, trombones, piano, and various chapel bells. Among all cable networks that aired the ceremony, CNN was ranked #1 among adults 25-54 and 18-34, plus tens of millions more views on CNN Digital.

We helped the Arabic news network Al Jazeera take flight, with a new sonic brand and music package for their morning news show. The objective: Create a theme that was bright, upbeat and positive, to complement bright colorful graphics driven by butterfly imagery.

The concept of butterflies in flight were the focal point for our inspiration. Their motion was reflected in the music, sparking strings with a fluttering sensibility, sweeping soundscapes, and subtle sound design. To uplift the visuals even further, we scored the open and interstitials to picture.
