Stephen Arnold Music Celebrates Southern California’s Diversity in “Good Day L.A.” Theme

Sonic branding agency adds an infectious beat to the relaunch of the morning show as it welcomes veteran news anchor Michaela Pereira.

DALLAS— Stephen Arnold Music evokes the spirit of Southern California in an uplifting new theme for KTTV Fox 11’s Good Day L.A. With its light, sparkling rhythm, the music is part of a complete relaunch of the popular morning show—coinciding with the addition of Michaela Pereira to its group of anchors—that also includes a new format, a new look and new graphics.

The theme music accompanies the show’s new opening title, a montage of stunning imagery of local sites and landmarks including the Griffith Park Observatory, Marina del Rey and Boyle Height’s historic Mariachi Plaza. The aim is to underscore Good Day LA’s connection to the diverse community it serves and distinguish it from other morning programs.

Stephen Arnold Music’s task was to convey authenticity, trustworthiness and inclusiveness through a theme that is also memorable and broadly appealing. “The music says, ‘good morning’ to people across Los Angeles and its suburbs,” explains creative director Chad Cook. “Like the visuals, it conjures an image of a dynamic, multicultural community and an upbeat feeling of pride.”

The new theme music has a contemporary sound that is distinctly L.A. “Working with KTTV’s creative team, we drew inspiration from local artists across a range of genres to come up with something that is authentic to the region,” Cook says. “It blends pop, Latin, jazz and urban nuances, without sounding too slick or polished. The melody is infectious, and the music is very groove-oriented with a catchy beat inspired by tracks coming out of the L.A. scene.”

Cook adds that it is exciting to contribute to a rebrand that is attracting wide media attention and generating an enthusiastic response from viewers.  The arrival of Pereira, who hosts the show from 7-10 a.m. has resonated due to her strong connection with the local audience. “We wanted to tap into the excitement that Michaela Pereira brings to the show,” says Cook. “It was a privilege to contribute to a rebrand that is redefining and raising the standard for morning news.”
