“It’s All About Early”

We had this idea. With so many stations dealing with reduced staffs and working within increasingly tight budgets, we wondered wouldn’t it be cool if we could create a fresh, no-hassle on-air look for the morning news — an increasingly valuable part of every station’s daily schedule. Thus “It’s All About Early’ was born. This is a video AND audio package designed to make local stations look and sound better […]

CNN HLN ‘Prime News’ — Behind The Music

Once again we were fortunate to work again with our friends at CNN HLN to develop a new high-energy theme and music package. This time their evening news program  “Prime News” looked to us to compose the third generation of the show’s memorable theme. We first developed a theme for “Prime News” in 2005, marking it with a punchy three-note mnemonic. The latest theme and package of opens, bumps and […]

SAM Wins PromaxBDA “Sound Off”

At yesterday’s PromaxBDA Network Sound Off, Fox network execs selected our score to launch their new drama series “Ride Along,” (from the producers of The Shield), which breaks during SUPER BOWL XLV. Her first major assignment was the […]

“A Lot Happens Early” on CBS’ The Early Show

When we were asked to write the song for CBS Early Show’s new “A Lot Happens Early” promo campaign, CBS called and outlined what they wanted to hear, their objectives, the audience they were targeting, and gave us a few reference tracks. It had to be a song you knew was a hit the first time you heard it. At SAM, we all agreed: Let’s knock the ball out of […]

New Music on Discovery

We just finished up a 3-part Discovery Channel series; “Cocaine Nation”, “Heroin Nation”, and “Meth Nation.”  It was a lot of fun.  They like a lot of music.  That doesn’t mean that Discovery has an extensive iTunes playlist, oh no.  Each 45 minute episode contained about 45 minutes of music. So yeah, the scores are pretty much wall-to-wall. The series explores the drug problems in our country.  Pretty compelling stuff. […]
